Paisley and Plaid is for anyone who enjoys reading and writing — essays mainly — comments on my favorites from poetry to novels.

Sometimes I’ll review a movie or something societal.

 My master’s is in English with an emphasis in British literature. I was in a classroom for the last fifteen years, everything from gifted education (the HIGH IQ’s) to freshman comp. to high school English where I taught mainly AP classes.

I left teaching a few months ago to do other things: like blog. I love it! 

I understand that the Western canon is in transition. Nevertheless, I write about works that have lasted and have appealed to a wide range of educated and/or thoughtful readers over time. I guess it’s partly a work of preservation. Years in the classroom have helped me know what to address, what questions arise.

Am I writing that novel? Of course. Aren’t you?
